Living Streets, the charity behind the Walking Works campaign, are putting on a conference on 23rd February 2010 which is a must for anyone involved in delivering the Active Travel Strategy.

After a season brimming over with a bit too much Christmas cheer, many of us will be horrified to realise that our clothes are suddenly more ‘snug' than is comfortable. But never fear: Walking Works, a campaign funded nationwide by the Big Lottery Fund, is here to help.

With Christmas just around the corner, national charity Living Streets has launched an im-mince-ly exciting project to get people walking, through their Walking Works campaign!

Living Streets' Walking Works campaign is pleased to support Commute Smart Week for the second year running.

Living Streets today welcomed the new scatter crossing at Oxford Circus - one of the country's most high profile shopping streets. The removal of clutter and the wider, more direct crossing space is a step towards rebalancing this key area of the capital - and catering for the high numbers of pedestrians that use it.

With the news that bus and tube fares in London are set to increase in 2010, national charity Living Streets' Walking Works campaign is encouraging all Londoners to give walking a go on their journey to and from work.

Living Streets is currently recruiting for the position of Walking Works Coordinator.

On Thursday 13 August, national charity Living Streets turns 80 years old. On that day, we want you to join people around the UK and take a photograph that captures the essence of a street you know. We want you to help build up a picture of our streets in 2009 - and maybe even win a great prize!

From 18:59 tonight (Tuesday 9th June) until 18:58 on Thursday 11th June, the entire London tube network will be closed down as a result of industrial action. National charity Living Streets is urging all Londoners to give walking a go during the strike to find just how quick and easy it can be.

A total of 40,888 miles, the equivalent of walking 1.6 times around the world, was walked nationally as part of Walk to Work Week last week. Commuters across the country managed to burn off the equivalent of 20,444 cupcakes and save 13,575kg of carbon.
