Ice Cream Calculator

In the spirit of summer, Walking Works has come up with a brand spanking new walking calculator- ice cream style. We have selected the nation's favourite summer treats and worked out how long you would need to walk to burn off each of them. Now, the idea isn't to encourage working out how many you've earned this week and locating your nearest corner shop to buy five magnums. The idea is to raise awareness about how much activity you need to do to burn off the equivalent to an ice cream and to try and fit in a bit of extra walking one day in the next few weeks. We hope you find it as intriguing as we did!

Apologies in advance to the ladies, we have to work a bit harder to burn off those calories...to download the charts, scroll down.

Shocking, we know. Who would've thought it would take so long to burn off a classic 99?! But we reckon it's easy enough to do if you pop out on your lunch break and fit in an extra 10 minutes on the way home from work- job done.

To send to your ice-cream-fiend-friends, download the charts here:

The calculator is based on an algorithm developed by President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports Organization, assuming the average walking speed is 3.5 miles per hour and the average female weight is 65 kg and male weight is 79.75 kg.
