1. Walk like Stephen Fry
Stephen Fry is a big fan of walking around cities with a talking book on the go. It's a great way to while away the
hours, taking in a beautiful city whilst being entertained.

2. A guide to trees

If you're not a nature buff, then you probably won't know the difference between a plane tree and a weeping
willow. Brush up on your tree knowledge, so you can appreciate the variety of trees on your walk to work, and
make people green with your specialist tree chat...

3. Snacks

A cheeky snack to keep you going always livens up a walk. An energy bar for the power walkers amongst you,
or a quick smoothie to get your 5 a day or if you're just starting out ‘commute walking', then we reckon a small
chocolate bar now and again to reward yourself wouldn't go amiss...

4. Binoculars
Carry some binos with you to take in the wildlife. Whether you're city based or rural, binos are essential for
strolling! You could take them down to a river or park at lunch, or want to find a high point and look out over the
city you work in.

5. Picnic blanket
An emergency picnic blanket caters for any spontaneous picnics you might want to have in the summer months.
An emergency picnic blanket is perfect for a quick pit stop on your walk home, or an impromptu picnic with
friends after work to catch the last rays of the day...

6. Camera

A camera to capture those memorable images always makes walking more fun. Whether you're out and about
at lunch, snapping the sunset after work, or taking pictures of grumpy commuters on your way in, a camera can
add another element to your walk!

7. Dictaphone

A Dictaphone will definitely liven up any walk! You might be a budding musician singing some tunes on your
journey, or making a cassette for a long lost pen pal, but a Dictaphone can be a fun way to capture thoughts.

8. A small dog (*we don't recommend you buy them specifically for this purpose)
A small dog will liven up any bag, and any walk to work. Many of our regular walkers tell us that dog walking is
the single most effective thing that gets them out and about. So, take your canine for an outing to the office, or if
you can't do that, try fitting a quick walk in before work.

9. Thermos

If you're not a romantic poet, and not a fan of Stephen Fry, then we reckon this one's for you. A tea stop on the
way to work always lifts your mood before you hit the office. Try carrying a thermos full of the good stuff, and
stop off at a nice bench on the way to relax for 5 minutes and take in what's around you.

10. Notepad
We all let our thoughts roam free when we walk; it's the perfect time for a bit of creativity and independent
thought. Whether you're organising your thoughts for an all important meeting at work or thinking up some
romantic poetry, have a notepad to hand so you remember those unique thoughts.
